Reflection
I think that each religion has their own unique rituals and rites of passages that they follow. All of them are respectable and should not be judged by different religion. The different perspectives are very interesting because some religions tend to do similar things but others have completely different ones.
My Thoughts..
The three main rituals in Christianity which are Baptism, Naming ceremony and Dedication are not as visual and extreme as others but it still shows the amount of commitment they have for worshiping God. All ceremonies tend to involve the family and the bible. I feel like baptism is a very blunt type of ceremony that isn't found in any other religion and I do not understand the importance of infant baptism because I can't remember or have seen anyone. This puts a lot of pressure for the child because they haven't even experienced life to its fullest and they are already having to be cleansed for their sins which they haven't committed.
In Judaism, the rituals aren't as passive as Christianity but besides circumcision, the rituals are very spiritual and not very extreme. They believe that they are warding off the evil eye which infers that the child wouldn't be safe without God which i feel is very intellectual because this will cause the baby to be more dependent on God and live life just for their God.
The Hinduism rituals makes a lot of sense and it the most logical from all of the religions. The purpose behind the rituals such as the "First Solid Food" ritual are very logical and makes sense. You wouldn't be able to eat food until you reach a certain age and to make your first solid food the spiritual rice would make it very meaningful. The one and only ritual I don't believe in is the First Haircut ritual because I believe that all the hair that grows from your head is the same therefore, sacrificing your beauty to serve God doesn't seem correct.
In Islam, the sense of community is amazing and not only does the child's family get to eat, but everyone else does also because they are a good community. Growing up in an Islam community would be interesting and your thoughts would become more peaceful because of the belief that you share your wealth and success with everyone else. The ritual of putting out the amount of hair to gold is very impressive because you are helping out the less fortunate ones.
In conclusion, I think that a child's birth should be celebrated and should be done under any circumstances because it is the starting point of a new life and to start a child's life with good wishes and encouraging them to follow their God's path of their religion would be very beneficial. The parents would take care of them until they are matured and that would be very successful because if you have a good foundation, it is hard to go wrong. This rite of passages is very glorious and a happy period of their life as they are young and you are building a good foundation (base) for the child/ren who still have many more rituals to experience. I think that birth is very important and necessary because it is the beginning of someone's life and should be done with good care.
